The main ingredients of EPDM rubber are ethylene , propylene and diene monomen . These three react to form EPDM. EPOM is highly resistant to oxidation, azon and atmospheric conditions. EPDM rubber is a kind of polymer material produced by copolymerization of propylene and unsaturated diene. Phosphate , glycol based brake lubricants , water vapor ozone and weather resistance levels are very high .
EPDM rubbers provide excellent resistance to external environmental conditions and low temperature environments due to their natural properties as an elastomeric material . Since EPDM is in a saturated structure, its resistance to heat, oxygen, ozone and weather conditions is very good. They can be used continuously at 150°C. Ethylene propylene rubbers have poor resistance to oils and hydrocarbon solvents. Its most important feature is its low glass transition temperature. Due to its superior properties in static and dynamic rubber applications, it is widely used in the automotive industry, especially in hoses and profiles.
This rubber shows excellent resistance to ozone , sunlight and weather conditions . It provides good flexibility even at low temperatures .
It has high chemical resistance and good electrical insulation properties . It is highly resistant to phosphates, glycol-based brake oil, water vapor, and ester fluids.
It is not very suitable for fossil fuels and fossil fuel based oils . Fill compatibility is close to perfect . Another important feature of EPDM rubber is that it is dielectric. Thanks to this feature, it is used as an insulator in cables. It is highly resistant to weather conditions and its long life is another reason for preference for use in cables.
The usage area of the product is quite high due to its durability even in very hot environments. It shows high performance in EPDM , hydraulic fluids containing phosphate esters , automotive brake equipment , dilute acids and alkalines , silicone oils and greases , steam systems operating below 200 ° C .
