GENERAL PROPERTIES OF FLAME RETARDANTS
When the additive or reactive flame retardant seven chemical elements are present in the materials
combined with polymers, they have the greatest effect on increasing the fire performance of the
material. These are bromide, chlorine, nitrogen, alumium, antimony and boron. Flame retardant
chemicals elements, and their effectiveness is essentially a function of the active element contained
in the flame retardant.
